New technology drives innovation in packaging, but creating a sound consumer proposition is the key to its business success.

Technology start-up company Steam to Go approached Design Stream with a proven technology in self heating packaging. Moving from direct heating to steam heating systems, Design Stream worked with Steam to Go to deliver a pack configuration and format which could heat snack food, expanding the use of this technology into a completely new market area.

By adopting a consumer-centric approach, Design Stream was able to evolve the proposition further and develop packaging which was intuitive, simple and easy to use. Extensive packaging supplier relationships allowed for rapid development of the pack prototype to undergo extensive performance testing and optimise food heating times.
