A commercial coffee machine supplier wishing to develop and launch its own-brand machine was referred to Design Stream by an existing client. The team researched rival products and the idiosyncrasies of the leisure environment to identify the niche for a distinctive contemporary design around a reliable machine platform.

A wide range of initial concepts challenged perceived boundaries and drew out the client's expertise in a co-operative development of the product. Design Stream's ability to meld innovative design with engineering meant that we were able to liaise with manufacturers to quickly and easily translate the chosen design into a production model, which can be customised by consumers.

The Star Expresso Machine has proved a huge success and was short listed for a Design & Art Direction award.
