Sumec, China's largest OEM power tool manufacturer in the market, commissioned Design Stream to redesign a domestic lawnraker because in this price-driven sector it realised that innovative design can add value.

Product analysis by Design Stream uncovered opportunities for design improvements and cost reductions. A new fabric collection bin was created, reducing the lawnraker's unassembled volume by 25%, saving on shipping costs and slashing the storage space required. New features improved the safety of the unit, which the research had revealed was an issue.

Design Stream's experience and production knowledge enabled it to supply Sumec with surface tool CAD data ten days after the concept was agreed. 75,000 units have been sold under the Power Devil brand in retailers including B&Q and Argos.
