In a technology connected world having your mobile phone's battery expire while on the move is really frustrating. Recognising this, Boxbrands came to Design Stream with a view to finding a solution. The result is Chargebox, a commercial vending unit for charging mobile devices including phones, PDAs, ipods and PSPs.

Design Stream, in collaboration with Markus Hohl, produced a mock-up of the system to clarify how consumers would best use it while simultaneously researching consumer trust issues. From this, Design Stream then developed a field prototype, which was tested in London's flagship easyInternetcafé.

The culmination of this work is a charging solution that covers 90% of phone handsets and mobile electronic devices on the market. Production of 1000 units will be completed on time and on budget.
