Skincare applications (such as mud based facial cleansers, deep treatment moisturisers) and depilatories (leg waxing) currently rely on various different heating systems, but may see real benefit with a self generated steam heating system. Steam To Go's patented self heating packaging technology allows for portability and hence maximum flexibility over location of use. Steam technology can create a more even heating of the product which means that there is less likelihood of hot spots and burning. The generation of steam as a conduit to vapourise products means the treatment of respiratory conditions or decongestant product delivery may also be possible.

Rapid technological developments in self-heating steam packs are being made, enabling a greater reduction in the size and weight and cost of the heat engine. In our modern society the demand for on-the-go convenience rises, with consumers willing to pay the premium for tangible benefits, differentiating your product in a competitive market.

Cosmetics & Beauty Sector Hots Up

Technology creates an experience which adds value

Product differentiation in the cosmetics and beauty sector has never been more important than now. Whilst the sector continues to see significant growth, with projected growth estimated at 16% between 2006 to 2011, in an already crowded marketplace brands are having to work harder to offer more consumer benefits to engage a discerning audience.

Design Stream has been developing a new proposition of functional packaging which could potentially offer consumers more benefit and experience in this sector. Partnering with technology company, Steam to Go, Design Stream has been investigating applications where warm or hot beauty product delivery could add value, particularly if they produce better results than the current alternatives.
